Please join us at the beautiful Beaverdam trails on the shores of Falls Lake for a GRiT Clinic, plenty of cycling activities including lots of games and a Time Speed Distance Rally.

Time Speed Distance Rally

Teams will ride to checkpoints along trails.  The goal of the TSD is to ride the trail segments between checkpoints in a specified period of time.  This event is about accuracy of pacing, not speed. This is a non-competitive event oriented toward building fitness, navigation and technical skills.  For more information, please check out this Time Speed Distance Rally description.

The TSD Rally is a team oriented event.  All Student-Athletes are invited to participate whether their team is able to attend or not.  Unaccompanied student-athletes will be grouped with other teams.

South Loop TSD – Teams will ride to checkpoints along Beaverdam’s 8 mile long South Loop.  Please note: the South Loop is long and has lots of elevation!  It is a great ride to challenge your fitness. There is only one entrance and exit from the South Loop.  Coaches need to consider the conditioning of student-athletes prior to committing to do the South Loop TSD.  Teams will be allowed to pause at checkpoints if they wish.

Outer Loop TSD – Teams will ride to checkpoints along Beaverdam’s Outer Loop.  Outer Loop is approximately 2.6 miles. The TSD on this loop is designed for younger and/or less advanced riders.

Coaches may choose to ride either one or both of the loops according to their teams needs.  Teams will be allowed to pause at checkpoints if they wish.

Games will include:

Foot Down
Cardboard Box Slide Relays
Technical Challenge Course and/or Bike Soccer
Slow Race
Newspaper Delivery Challenge

GRiT Clinic

The GRiT Clinic at Adventure day will be a great opportunity for girls to get familiar with the GRiT Program, meet other girls in the league, and share their ideas as to what they would like to see happen at race weekend GRiT clinics.

The clinic will consist of an introduction to the GRiT program and its purpose, announcing the 2020 GRiT Mentor Program, ice-breaker games to help build cross-team relationships, and a girls ride.

All participants must register ahead of time in Pit Zone.  Due to State Park Rules, no on-site payments are allowed.

Please check in at the registration desk upon arrival in park.

COACHES please “register” HERE if you are attending so we can ensure we have enough coaches on hand to support our student-athletes, and to help us pre-plan for team start times for the TSD.

Volunteering at our Events

Our events would not be possible without the incredible work of our volunteers. It takes a “village” to put on quality youth mountain bike events for our student-athletes. Many parents and cycling enthusiasts find that getting involved with our events is a fun and rewarding experience.

We know some positions can look complex and possibly overwhelming for first-time volunteers. Rest assured ALL of our volunteer positions are fun and require no previous experience and our League Staff are with you every step of the way. You will feel confident and well prepared for your task. View volunteer training videos HERE

Pick one (or two) that sound interesting to you, and look forward to the fun! VOLUNTEER HERE TO GUARANTEE YOUR PREFERRED POSITION!  For more information contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Mackenzie Filippi.

Please consider visiting the North Carolina League website to sign up to volunteer at future races and events.

Important Notes

  • No Off Leash Dogs.
  • Grilling is allowed in on-site grills
  • Please be considerate of the State Park and use trash receptacles at all times. Consider the practice of pack it in/packing it out approach

REMINDER: Helmets are REQUIRED for ALL participants AND visitors.
